Platforms. We integrate cells around the robot brands common in regional plants, Fanuc, ABB, Universal Robots, Omron and Yaskawa, and we program the controls on Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Omron, Phoenix Contact and Unitronics.

Built and tested in our shop

Every control panel that goes into a Bedford robot cell is built, wired and tested in our panel shop, under Bedford’s QPS certification. Each panel is powered up and run through its I/O on the bench before it ships, so wiring faults turn up here instead of on your floor with production stopped. Red Seal industrial electricians do the installation, and the people who wrote the robot and PLC code stand at the line during startup.

Common questions

Do you install the robot, or just program it?Bedford runs the whole cell in-house: process analysis, cell design, control panel build, robot and PLC programming, installation by Red Seal industrial electricians, and commissioning on site. One team owns the job from the first process walk to the day the cell runs production.
Can we add a robot to a line we already run?Retrofitting a robot into a running line is normal work here. The cell gets designed around the conveyors, sealers and machines already on your floor, and it talks to the plant PLC over EtherNet/IP, PROFINET or Modbus TCP, or hardwired I/O where the equipment is older.
Who do we call when the cell faults on night shift?Call 1-833-423-3367 and someone available answers. That line reaches the Dieppe team that designed, built and commissioned the cell, not a call centre. Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, Truro, Amherst and Charlottetown are all a drive from the shop, so help arrives by road.
Will our own maintenance team be able to support the cell?Cell logic is written in IEC 61131-3 languages your electricians can read, ladder included, and HMI fault messages are in plain words so a night shift operator can clear a jam without calling anyone. Operators and maintenance get training and documentation at handover.
Do we have to automate the whole line, or can we start with one robot?A pilot cell, one process and one robot, is usually the right first move, because it produces real numbers from your own plant before you commit to more. A free assessment tells you which process is the best candidate, and sometimes the honest finding is that none of them is ready yet.
