What runs in the capital region

Fredericton’s industrial base is quieter than Saint John’s and more varied than its reputation suggests. Food and beverage processing, wood products and sawmilling along the Route 2 and Route 8 corridors, building products, and the large institutional plant that comes with a capital city: government facilities, two universities, a regional hospital and the base at Oromocto. Around all of it run the water, wastewater and power systems of the Saint John River valley.
