Careers at Bedford

PLC Programmer

Write the logic that runs the line.

Bedford programs the control systems that run industrial plants. As a PLC programmer you write and commission the logic behind production lines — new builds, retrofits, migrations and fault tracing.

We work across eight platforms rather than one: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Omron, Mitsubishi, ABB, Phoenix Contact and Unitronics. Plants rarely have a single-brand floor, so breadth matters here more than it would at a single-vendor integrator.

You will work alongside the panel shop, the electrical crew and the field service team, not at arm’s length from them.

A Red Seal industrial electrician ticket is an asset in this field and useful on some of the work we do — but it is not required for this role.

Where the work is

Most assignments are in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island or Nova Scotia. Some of our work takes teams further afield, including outside Canada.

Who can apply

We accept applications from anywhere in the world. Where you live now is not the filter: we bring the right people in, and we train for growth.

Benefits that back our people

  • Excellent salaries — we pay for skill and we keep it that way
  • Health and disability insurance for you and your family, on and off the job
  • Paid vacation
  • Investment matching
  • Paid training
  • Performance bonuses
  • Room to grow, with real projects and a clear path up
