Amherst sits on the Nova Scotia side of the border, at the narrow neck of land that every truck between the two provinces crosses. It kept a manufacturing base that many towns its size lost. Metal fabrication and plastics, frozen and wild blueberry processing through Cumberland County, wood products, building products, and the wind generation and transmission plant across the Tantramar.
